subsymbolic
Subsymbolic is an exploration into electronic music generally categorised as Ambient, Experimental and sometimes as Sound Art.

The primary goal of Subsymbolic is to explore musical possibilities using compositional techniques and tools that reject conventional musical formalisms and the compositional parameters dictated by popular culture. Despite this, the musical works created must attempt to engage the listener in a satisfying experience, albeit usually introspective.

In music the term Subsymbolic refers to a form of representation based on the way a listener perceives and experiences sound rather than its measurable physical properties or symbolic structure (ie. waveform or musical notation).

In more general terms, subsymbolic is concerned with exploring the emergent properties of unconventional forms of electonric music from a listener response point of view.
